The Alliance of Lordaeron
Convinced that the Horde would overcome all of humanity if left unchecked, the leaders of the seven human nations met and agreed to unite in what would become known as the Alliance of Lordaeron. For the first time in nearly three thousand years, the disparate nations of Arathor were once again united under a common banner.
Forged during the fires of the Second War, the Alliance of Lordaeron was the union between the seven human kingdoms, the dwarves of Khaz Modan and Aerie Peak, the Gnomes of Gnomeregan, and the high elves of Quel’Thalas.
Following the destruction of the Kingdom of Stormwind by the Orcish Horde, its survivors fled to Lordaeron. Realizing the threat the orcs posed, Regent Lord Anduin Lothar, leader of Stormwind’s refugees, was able to convince the leaders of the other human kingdoms to join against the orcs. After the death of Lord Lothar, the Alliance of Lordaeron was led by King Terenas Menethil II with Turalyon as its military commander. Turalyon’s forces succeeded in destroying the Dark Portal, the mystical gateway that connected the orcs to their homeworld of Draenor. Cut off from its reinforcements and fractured by infighting, the Horde finally buckled in upon itself and fell before the might of the Alliance.
The scattered orc clans were quickly rounded up and placed within guarded internment camps. Disagreements over what to do with the lethargic orcs created tension between some member states of the Alliance of Lordaeron. Quel’Thalas in particular became an increasingly cold ally, which ultimately led the high elves to rescind their loyalty to the Alliance completely, and to declare themselves independent once more. The high elves’ departure sparked the nations of Gilneas and Stromgarde to follow suit, and the Alliance of Lordaeron lost roughly half of its members in rapid succession.
After splintering, the Alliance was ravaged during the attack of the Scourge and the Burning Legion. The Kingdoms of Lordaeron, Dalaran, and Quel’Thalas were all laid to waste at the hands of the corrupted Prince, Arthas Menethil. The death of King Terenas Menethil II at the hands of his son marked beginning of the end for the Alliance of Lordaeron - and the end of an era.
Little something I knocked up because I was bored.
